MSA2062FC optimal DiskGroup and pool config
Hello everyone,
I have a question about the MSA2062FC optimal DiskGroup and pool config. (MSA is connected with 2x HPE server G10 over FC)
We have MSA2062FC with two controller A and B
- 1st set of 2 x SSD 1,9TB
- 2nd set of 12 x 2,4TB HDD 10k
- 3rd set of 6 x 900GB HDD 15k
I need to create following volumes to Hyper-V VM for this purpose:
Partition#1 - label SQL DB files - 1,8TB from SAN 900GB 15k rpm
Partition#2 - label SQL LOG files - 2,4TB - from SAN 2.4TB 10k rpm
Partition#3 - label SQL Backup files - 2,4TB from SAN 2.4TB 10k rpm
Partition#4 - label data files - 1,8TB from SAN 900GB 15k rpm
Partition#5 - label Transaction Logs - - 2,4TB from SAN 2.4TB 10k rpm
I was thinking to make two sets of disk for each pool:
- POOL A set of 6 x 900GB HDD 15k - raid 10
- POOL B set of 12 x 2,4TB HDD 10k - raid MSA-DP+
- SSD for performance
I would appreciate your comments or better suggestions.

Re: MSA2062FC optimal DiskGroup and pool config
Hello@ipipunic,
Yes, you may configure the same but choose the correct raid levels for more usable capacity and good performance.
Please check the below link for more information about RAID levels and features of different RAID levels.

Hope this helps!
