Problem with HP P2000 G3 (disks?)

Hello everyone, first i am new at HP Storage and for this reason i dont know very much.

The case is, a customer have buy and install a new drive for the HP P2000 G3, after installing it the drive flash green for seconds and then both light turn off. At the Enclosure A from the Web UI the disks dont show or either at the tabular page. From the web u can see that from the second controller the mngt interface is on a degraded state, i ask to chane the cables, port switch and etc for this interface but the problem is not solved, also i can ping the ip for this interface. The new disks is comp with the system, also the vdisks is on raid 5 and healt state ok, ftol. When i connect from the cli and hit the show events command nothing is displaying, also when i enter the show disks i get the error  "Error: The Storage Controller is not ready for the operation. (2024-02-07 07:29:45)" both controllers is at   TS250R023 firmware version. Also the front panel of the machine is this, 3 disk with the Fault/UID solid amber & online off and the new with both off.

Thanks a lot

Best Regards

Re: Problem with HP P2000 G3 (disks?)

Hi,

Let me split the issues into 3 and provide suggestions.

1. New disk is not getting detected.

Try installing the same drive in a different free slot and check whether the issue follows the drive or the slot

Check whether the drive gets detected by issuing the below commands in CLI:

show disks

2. Network port degraded

Try restarting management controller using either of the below commands based on whether its top or bottom controller:

restart mc a
restart mc b
3. One of the Storage controllers is down.

Try restarting storage  controller using either of the below commands based on whether its top or bottom controller during a period of low IOs.

restart sc a
restart sc b

Execute the below command and share the output after removing any confidential information:

show system

Note Data back up is recommended before performing any actions as array has older version firmware.

Since there are multiple critical issues this might require logging an HPE support case and log analysis.
I do understand that the array is EOSL and out of contract.
You may still try to log a case with HPE to check for options.
