Raid recommendation for MSA 2062 Storage

Hello Team,

we have gone for MSA 2060 Storage with HPE MSA 6TB SAS 7.2K LFF M2 HDD - 55 Nos Disk, we have sized this storage with 8+2 Disk group in Raid 6 and 1 for Global hot spare

we want to know ,

whether Raid DP+  is more better then Raid 6 in terms of Performance and reliablity or we should configure the disk under RAID 6 only

if we go for RAID DP+ then how many disk minium we should considerd for creating discgroup considering 6TB disk

Regards,

Prafull Mistry

Hi

DP+ requires minimum of 12 disks basically it is raid 6 + spare

but it manages its self.

it is easier to expand and much preferred

Re: Raid recommendation for MSA 2062 Storage

Hello @prafulmistry ,

MSA-DP+ is a RAID type that offers superior performance, availability, flexibility, and rebuild times when compared to other disk groups, especially those that employ parity-based RAID schemes.

MSA-DP+ uses distributed RAID to allow disk groups to grow from 12 to 128 drives incrementally and to feature integrated sparing.

The minimum number of disks required to employ MSA DP+ is 12.
