SAN (P2000 G3 iSCSI) Vdisk Raid5 offline
Hi,
I have this same issue starting on monday. After HP P2000 G3 start one disk indicated failure and two others on "LEFETOVER".
As explained by an HP support Team member i deleted the meta data and replaced the failed HDD.
Today i'm unable to add dedicated spare disk and rebuild the vdisks.
The error message i get is : "Unable to add dedicated spare disk, Vdisk is OFFLINE.
I tried to do the trust command but failed.
I have all my data on this vdisk and i need your help.
RAID5
2 X Vdisks
Vdisk01 has two volumes.
Thank you very much.

Re: SAN (P2000 G3 iSCSI) Vdisk Raid5 offline
You had one drive failed and two drives in LEFTOVER.
If vdisk in offline which means RAID is failed. As you have mentioned it's RAID5 which means more than 1 drive fail or not available will make the vdisk offline which is exactly your situation.
You didn't left a chance to try and recover the data. As failed drive replaced and metadata got cleared for two LEFTOVER drives means you have 3 new drives now. All those drives lost the vdisk information which was there at drive metadata.
In order to rebuild or reconstruct vdisk data Controller need to read from existing drives which is not possible now.
Hope this helps!

Re: SAN (P2000 G3 iSCSI) Vdisk Raid5 offline
Thank you for your reply.
Apart from deleting and recreating Vdisk which i don' choose as solution, what options do i have now?
Thank you again.

Re: SAN (P2000 G3 iSCSI) Vdisk Raid5 offline
Unfortunately as per my experience you have to go for delete and re-create only. Then restore data from backup.
You can ask help from HPE Support as well and get the detail analysis done.
Hope this helps!
