SAN switch 2/8 EL
I tried the default password but it did not work. How can I reset it to default.

If you have lost the root password, you need to call HP to get it reset - as I recall, it involves loading a special FW version and rebooting the switch.

I have read in the Compaq manual how can you reset the password.
Turn off the switch. Connect to a serial port. Open Hyperterminal. Any port connect. Now the user is admin and the password is password.
I do not check it but and I haven´t the manual here but I think that it is the step by step.
