SAN switch panic after reboot of Cisco SN5428 in fabric
Hello,
I have SAN with 1 fabric containing a Compaq SAN switch 2/16 , a Compaq SAN switch 2/8 and a Cisco SN5428 Storage router.
When i reboot the Cisco SN5428 and the SN5428 wants to rejoin the fabric my both Compaq SAN switches are resetting with the follwing error:
fabric: Reconfiguration due to BF received (port 1)
fabric: Reconfiguring (Fri Dec 5 12:13:25 2003)

fabric: Domain 97

Panic: ASSERT1 - Assertion failed: npids != 0 ps/ps_impl.c:3310 Function: ps_procExtRscn(), 0
When I disable the switch part of the SN5428 before reboot and enable it after restart I have no problem.
Anyone any idea, what can cause this problem?

We found what the cause of this problem.
There is a problem with the interopmode of the Compaq SAN switches.
This problem only occurs in v3.1.x firmware as far as I know.
Brocade is working on new firmware to solve this problem.
To work arround this problem the SN5428 is temporary replaced by a SR2122 HP iSCSI router which ha no build-in switch.
With the HP SR2122 there is no need to put the SAN switches in interoperability mode.
