XP24000 Thin Provisioning

Hi,

 

I'm looking at using VMware with XP24000 thin provisioning.  The XP guide suggests not to use a ThP LUN with a 'thin format' vmdk quoting 'unpredictable results'.

 

Looking at similar products (HDS USP V) this configuration is allowed, with a note about high IOPS.

 

Has anyone tried this?  What are the 'unpredictable results'?  HP seems to be the only vendor without concrete guidance on this.

 

Any advice welcome,
