Cdrom problem
I am installing suse linux 7.2 professional on a hp lc3 netserver. I have upgraded the bios with the latest patches. Within the the setup after hitting F2 to check on ide devices attached to the server on the mother board and auto-detect is selected. It is not working. I have gone back into the setup and purposely selected cdrom as a slave and save the settings properly. At this point all is saved because I go back in and my selection is still there. However once the server reboots the cdrom is not recognized. I reboot again and go into setup by pressing F2 and my selection is not there. I have changed the option from a slave to a master and nothing. I have uplugged the ide cable to the mother board and the cdrom and replugged everything and still nothing. The cdrom ide and it is a sony 52x. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The reason for concern is with suse 7.2 there is a boot diskette but with suse 8 it boots from a cdrom. I know I am going to need it. Yes, I have switched out the cable for another new cable.
Thanks,
Ed
Thanks,
Ed

Re: Cdrom problem
On the rear of the cdrom there are 3 jumpers.
The first is slave jumper setting, the second is the cable select jumper setting and the third is the master jumper setting.
Try to change the jumper setting....
