E60 with Netraid 1m does not show tape drive in Netware
Hi Everyone,
Config: E60
Netraid 1M (3 Disks with Raid 5)
OnBoard AIC7895
DDS4 Tape
all original HP
OS Netware 6 SP2
Problem:Tape is shown during startup and with
Adaptec BIOS Utilities
After booting OS everything is running
After loading Adaptecs no tape is shown
Tried scsi-scan, list devices, scan all
Load switches (LUN_ENABLE=FF,etc)
Never seen this behavior before.
Any idea would be highly appreciated.
Thomas

Re: E60 with Netraid 1m does not show tape drive in Netware
I did some searching and found nothing on the HP web to support the notion of the DDS4 tape drive working with the configuration you describe. I did find the following info, which I hope is helpful:
1 - The NOS compatability matrix lists only NetWare 4.2 and 5.0 as supported on the E60. This point is also mentioned on the DDS4 driver download page. (Of course, "not supported" doesn't necessarily mean "won't work", but I don't work with NetWare, so I can't speak with authority...)
2 - I found this statement on a DDS-4 driver info page:
"Netware 5.x and embedded SCSI controllers
At this time, there is no support in Netware 5.x for embedded SCSI controllers. The workaround for this is to install a separate SCSI card and disable the embedded SCSI controller."
This would imply that you would need another SCSI controller card for the DDS4, in addition to the Netraid 1si for the disks.
If you get no better answers here, you might want to place a call to HP customer care. They might be able to shed more light on things...
Best Regards,
Dave

NW 6 is not supported on this server. Neither is the 1M.

Re: E60 with Netraid 1m does not show tape drive in Netware
Easy solution: avoid everything which is Red from installing and HP has no problems...!
Thanks God they now sell Proliant.
The Netraid 1M is an actual controller...! Why should it not be certified with Netware?
This is not personly meant to Theo!!!
