HP NetServer SCSI Configuration

In my LP2000r I have a NetRAID-2M controller that I am trying to use to RAID 6 SCSI disks. For some reason the Express Tools utility is only showing 3 of the drives that are installed in the server. So far I have tried connecting both SCSI cables to the card at the same time, one to the card and the other to the first drive cage, and I've tried removing the terminator from the back of the second drive cage. Still it only detects the 3 disks in the first drive cage.

I assume this is something that did not work before and has stopped working.
Check to see if you need to change the SCSI IDs of one of the cages. I am not familiar with the LP2000r, but I will check into it a bit and see if there is something in manuals

OK, I see now. There are 6 slots and they Automatically configure, so it is not the cages. The maual states that the 2 backplane boards of the hotswap cages are normally connected to Channel A of the onboard SCSI controller (cable from the controller to the top connector of backplane A and another cable from the bottom connector of backplane A to the top of backplane B and a terminator on the bottom of backplane B).
This cable should be moved to the 2M Channel.
Or you can connect one channel to each backplane to form a Duplex configuration. In this case you connect to both of the top connections on the backplanes and have terminators on both bottom connector. If you have done that, are you sure the second channel on the 2M is not disabled or using the same interupt as the onbaord SCSI. In that case you can try disabling the onboard SCSI if you are not using it.
They do note that "The SCSI drives in the Hot Swap slots are automatically assigned SCSI addresses according to their drive slot location-not on SCSI addresses you may set (see Figure 3-1). This is also the case if you are using a RAID controller board. Do not set SCSI ID software settings or
jumpers on the SCSI driveâ s controller board." if that helps. I did not know that you could force SCSI IDs on the RAID controller, so may be that is not it.

Hi, I believe that I can get it working with the information you have given me, though I am unable to confirm it right now as one of the connectors on one of the SCSI cables came apart as I moved it from one channel to another. When I get a replacement I will tell you how it goes.
