I deployed nine NetServer LP2000R with Windows 2000 OS. Four of the servers are giving me the following error messages after bootup.
The HP Component Service terminated unexpectedly. It has been done 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No Action.
Can someone tell me what this is and how I can stop it.

Solution
HP Component Service is a part of toptools. In the registry you will find it at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
\Services\HPComponent
Since it calls itself a service you can probably manually start and stop it. Right click on My Computer, Select Manage and then Services and Applications. Now click on Services and look in the right window for HPCMPSVC. If you find it double click on it and you can change how it starts from automatic to disabled then it won't ever send you the message again.
http://netserver.hp.com/support/installdir.asp
tells a bit about where the pieces hide.
However, I assume you would prefer that it run since it's supposed to monitor the health of your components.
What version of toptools are you running? 5.52 is the latest version and you can get it at: http://www.hp.com/toptools/index.html
While you are in the Manage menu check if there are any error messages in the event logs for application and system.

Re: HPComponent Service Terminated
Frank,
This is well documented on Instant Support:
Take a look at http://isupport2.hp.com/solnDirect.asp and type in solution ID IS11073.
Upgrading the Netserver Agents to 5.50 or later should solve it.
Marco.
