IDE harddisk support for netserver LC2000
Hi,
May I know can netserver LC2000 PIII 867 can support 120GB 7200rpm UDMA100 IDE harddisk for the on board IDE channel?
Anything need to be concern?
Many thanks,
Kenneth

Re: IDE harddisk support for netserver LC2000
Kenneth,
IDE hard drives were never tested or supported on any Netservers until the entry level TC2100/10 series. From my understanding, those who have tried had less than desireable results.
SCSI is tested and recommended on the LC2000.
ciao,
Greg

Re: IDE harddisk support for netserver LC2000
Kenneth,
The IDE Bus in these netservers was intended solely for the use of CD/DVD Rom Drives, attaching a hard drive to this system would be possible, but difficult. If you do decide to attach an IDE disk drive, the operating system will recognize the drive, just so long as you are not trying to boot to this disk. If you are intending on installing the operating system on this hard drive, you will work in endless circles. My recommendation is to load the operating system or system's to a single 9GB SCSI disk, and use the larger IDE disk drive for storage only. Keep in mind, using your only IDE bus for an internal hard drive means that you will more than likely need to find an External SCSI CD Rom, and if your trying to save money by using an internal IDE disk rather than SCSI, you have again just walked in a circle.
I hope this helped you, if any of my advice is unclear, please email me.
