Netserver LC3 Need help
I just purchased a second hand HP Netserver LC3 for about 50 pounds from a local Freeads ad trader newspaper. When I recieved it the machine was in perfect working order with one understandable exception. Both hard drives were totally wiped clean. All i got was the server and the key to open it. The serial has been scraped off and so I cant literally contact HP. I've tried installing windows 2000 Pro (as its the only one i have a liscence for) but am having extreme trouble finding drivers and getting the serial ports to work (says about not enough rescources) All I've got is this server and a copy of win 2k pro. I would seriosuly appriciate any help you could give me to get the serial ports working and the rest of the system (including tape drive) up and running as well.
Many thanks
Mark

Re: Netserver LC3 Need help
Always a bit tricky without the HP Navigator CD
Follow this link to all the drivers/bios associated with an LC3

Good luck

Re: Netserver LC3 Need help
First off, I recommend trying to get an operating system loaded before working the tape drives and serial ports. If this system has an internal CD Rom, you should be able to begin the installation of Windows 2000 without any drivers at all. The standard windows drivers will support 99% of the hardware that HP has produced in the past. If you are having trouble booting to the CD rom, then go into the BIOS and try changing the boot configuration. Change the configuration to boot to CD Rom first, then wait for the CD Rom to boot up and you will be prompted whether to boot to CD or continue to hard drive, have it boot to CD and go through the steps just like you were setting up a PC.
Keep in mind, the graphics in this server are aweful so don't expect anything fantastic to come from this.
You will need your keyboard, mouse and monitor attached to this server to go through the windows installation.
Also, try to get your hands on some older Netserver Naviagtor CD's and floppy's. These tools are usefull, but not necessary.
If I have left anything out, send me an email I will be more than happy to assist you as much as possible.
