Re: lc 2000 migration problem

Max,

You can do this, although it is not officially tested or supported by HP. Make sure you have a good backup before starting however incase things go bad.

First, Install the netraid card with nothing cabled to it. Install the drivers for 2000 from hp.com.

Next, after installing drivers. Change cabling over to NetRaid controller and boot into ctrl-m

Hdd should be in ID 0,1 if you have 2 hdds. You'll need one more hdd minimum if you want Raid 5. In Ctrl-m You'll go to configure and new configuration.

Hit space bar on ID 0 only (boot drive) and then hit enter to end the array.
Next hit space bar on id 1 to select drive and enter to end array--> id 0 should be a00-00 and ID 1 should be a01-00 and both should be flashing
Next hit F10 to configure--> Choosed default configs all the way down, accept both hdds as RAID 0 w/ default stripe size. DO NOT INITIALIZE the arrays or you will lose your data.

After setting up two RAID 0 arrays you should be able to boot to the NOS. Once you are back in the NOS you can use NetRaid Assist to change your configuration from Raid 0 to Raid 5.

You didn't mention whether you are keeping the second hdd as a ghost or not. You can leave it as a seperate logical drive or move the data off it, delete it as a logical drive in netraid assist and then add it into the Raid 5.

Hope this helps,
Greg

Re: lc 2000 migration problem

hello,
Greg is correct,

I worte this on another case, it is sinilar to your one
---------
this is not a supproted way and not recommanded, but you can ttry if you have a good backup :)

first step is to load the netraid driver in the os

then you have to connect the OS disk to the netraid, and configure a raid 0 "without inizialize it" !!!!

If you are able to see the data on that disk, you can go on,

- check if you can boot form that disk, (check for boot order and be sure you have the dirver for netraid loaded, or reload it)

- then starting from raid 0 you can migrate to higher raids, just adding the disk from the wizzard

if all is ok, you can create another raid 0 for application disk, Without any initialization, then expand it.
