LC3 Upgrade to W2K

Can somebody direct me to good information on how to upgrade a NetServer LC3 that is running NT4.0 to W2K?

The latest Navigator CD will only install LC3 to W2K but no upgrade.

None of the Navigators will help you upgrade your OS. Upgrading is not supported so documentation is far and few between.

I can only assume that there is someone out there who has upgraded a NT 4.0 LC3 to W2K.

I wanted to know what steps they took.

Re: LC3 Upgrade to W2K

I'm no expert, but if the CPU is at least a PII, 300 MHZ, with at least 128 Mb of RAM, you can upgrade the LC3 to W2K. I've upgraded an E50 to W2K and it runs fine. However, you might have to upgrade the video with a new adapter as well. The onboard video adapter might not work.

If you place the W2K disk in the running Netserver, Windows should recognize it and allow you to make the choice of upgrading to W2K, allowing you to keep your current options and settings. However, if that's not an option, you'll need to create the four boot disk from the full install version of W2K, and upgrade from the boot disk.

Re: LC3 Upgrade to W2K

HP has an installation guide for Windows 2000 at the following url: http://h200002.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn13532/lpn13532.pdf

Although there is nothing specific about the LC3 and upgrade from 4.0 to W2k. If maybe helpful anyway.

FYI: The netraid 1 and netraid 3 are not support in W2k. You will be fine for the 1si and 3si versions of the netraid card.
