Hello.
I have an LH PRO with two 200MHz processors, the processor nearest to the back grid is very hot (i feel it by touching the grid), but the performance is normal. The fans are working well.
I changed the power supply yesterday because it failed, fortunately i have another LH PRO so i only interchanged the power supplies, after this i noted that a processor was very hot, so i changed the processor and its power regulator, but the new processor continues hot, so i changed the circuit where the processors and memory are mounted, but the same processor is hot, i think i must change the main board, but i cannot because this server is on production.
So if you have an LH PRO please tell me if a very hot processor is normal
Thanks

Re: LH PRO very hot processor, is it normal?
Santiago,
It is not normal for a CPU to be extremely hot. Both CPU's should be at about the same temp. Make sure the server is clean and that there is good airflow. Letting the server run with an extremely hot CPU will probably end up killing the CPU. Do you have any temperature errors in the Event Log?
Ciao,
Greg

Re: LH PRO very hot processor, is it normal?
I don't have error messages about the processor, The processor wich is hotter have not increased its temperature, so i took out the cover and put a fan in order to cool the processor, now the i am trying to find the problem but i need the server working the next 15 days at least.
Any idea?

Solution
What operating system is running or will be running on this LH Pro? If you have Windows or Netware, you can install the older 5.04 NetServer agents. This will then report if a device such as the processors are outside of accepted ranges - such a CPU temperature.
When running, the processors in the LH Pro can be noticeable hot - so this may be normal and not indicate any actual hardware problem.
