Lxr8000

Hi, I have an RS12 array attached to my Lxr8000, however if the machine is powered of along with the Rs12 . I receive an error on bootup. Missed match configuration please run configuration utility. In doing so I then go to configure > viwe, add, delete then select to load configuration from HD, confirm save and exix and re-boot I'm then able to bootup with out any errors. Can someone tell me how I can correct this problem , so I will not need to enter the array manager when my box is turn off again ?

Re: Lxr8000

Hi Daren,

I think you need to update first the FW of the RS12 Controller, then the HBA card(Netraid 4m/4si) as well as the BIOS of the LXR 8000. If everything still fails, theres probably something wrong with the HBA card(NVRAM cache memory). You may need to contact HP support and have it replaced. Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Re: Lxr8000

Darren,

How are you power cycling your server and RS/12. If you power down the RS/12 before the LXr8000 is down or if you power up the server before the RS/12 hdds have finished spinning up, you can cause that error or drives for drives to fail.

The proper procedure to power cycle external SCSI devices is to power on external SCSI devices first and allow enough time for the devices to spin up. Give it a minute. Then power on the server. To power down, power server off first, then the RS/12 after server is down.

The error between disk and nvram message means that you are losing connection between the hdds and the controller and with your config, I would suspect power cycling issues first.

Re: Lxr8000

Hi, Greg
I do power up the drives in the RS-12 first, sometime I even give it as much as 5 mins before turning on the server, and then I perforem the reverse when shuting down the server, therefore I can safely out rule the the poweron or power of steps is not the problem and is done correctly, however I might now consider flashing the bios etc. as Jonathan recommended..

Thanks
