NetRaid Adapter driver

I have two HP NetServer LH Pro machines for NT servers and lost the original diskettes for NetRaid Adapter drivers that is "Bios v A.03.0.0".

Can someone help guiding me to get it?

Very appreciated.

Re: NetRaid Adapter driver

Mike,

Thank you for the help. But if my NT indicates HP NetRaid Adapter is using Bios v A.03.0.0 6/10/97, can I use v2 driver?

Re: NetRaid Adapter driver

Steven -- Note that the "v2" driver is actually a "B.02" driver, vs. the "A.03" driver you already have installed. This is a later driver as indicated by the date but also the major revision "B".

Re: NetRaid Adapter driver

Mike -- thanks again. But can I use it in case my NetServer needs to have NetRaid rebuilt?

Re: NetRaid Adapter driver

Do you have a vanilla NT server CD or something specific from HP? I'm guessing your question is focused on restores, i.e., how do you do a restore from your boot CD if your system has an later BIOS on the array.

What I'd suggest doing is downloading the various items I listed earlier and reviewing the documentation included, which should describe how you can create a floppy with the proper drivers on it, and how to use that floppy when your NT install asks for it.

Re: NetRaid Adapter driver

Stven, may be I'm late and you don't need anymore the info, but I was on holidays.

You have a NetRAID card with firmware version A.03.00. It's very old and buggy.

You should updated it to latest version A.04.03 http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpnetraid8163_swen.html

MANDATORY : before to update the firmware always do a full backup.

Then, as already told by Mike, install NetRAID Assistant A.02.02 (which includes the Monitor software and the scheduling for the check consistency).

With all those new things, if a disk fails, as soon as you replace it with a new one, the rebuild will start automatically.

I's also for important for your data to run every one or two weeks the "check consistency". That will remove bad sectors (if any) from the disks.
The default scheduling of "check consistency", configured when you install NetRAID Assistant A.02.02, is at time 0:00:01 on sunday. If you server is off during the weekend, the check consistency never happens.
In that case you can change the default time and day for the check consistency schedule doing that:
open a DOS window
type : megactrl -cons -d4 -t18 -date01/01/2000 -w1
In this case the scheduling will happens at
friday night, at 18:00 every one week.
or type megactrl /? for help

the driver mraidnt.sys 2.24 for Windows NT 4.0 could be use with any NetRAID firmware version.
