NetRAID cache upgrade

Forgive me if this issue is posted previously - I'm new here!

Please advise on the spec required for SIMMs to upgrade the cache memory for NetRAID, from the 16mb which seems to be standard.

Also, can anyone define just what sort of speed advantage an upgrade would give?

Many thanks,

Try this thread:

Unless there are a lot of cache "misses" then increasing the cache won't help much. If you do lots of large sequential reads there may be some benefit but I've seen cases where extra cache *decreases* performance as too much time is wasted searching and managing the large cache space.

Re: NetRAID cache upgrade

Thanks, I should have been more explicit about requirements. I am talking about the NetRAID on an LH4, which is built-in and has only a single SIMM slot - 72-pin, '4Mx36 EDO 50ns' in there at the moment.

Seems to me that memory which is both Parity, and EDO, is pretty rare..

Re: NetRAID cache upgrade

I don't know if this is what you want but I found some 32MB (8x36) EDO parity 72-pin SIMMS here:
