NetRaid problem.
I have a costumer who has a HP Netserver LD Pro
with HP NetRaid configured as RAID5 (3*HP 4GB). One of the harddrives stopped working. The costumer has got a new IBM UltraStar 9.1GB scsi drive (ultra3, model:DDYS-T09170) that he wants to connect to the raid array instead of the original HP 4GB. The Raid controller does not recognize the new drive. How do I get it to work? Is it at all possible?
The firmware version of the Raid controller is: A.03.00. OS: Windows 2000 server.

Re: NetRaid problem.
I do not know the IBM onl line very well, so it is hard to say why, but it is plain that it is not compatible. We spend time finding drive that are compatible just for this reason, so customers do not have to deal with the unknown.

Re: NetRaid problem.
Well i am not sure about the compatibility. But i am sure about DDYS drives that they are no good. These drives have problems of bad stripes being created. If they are in the Raid 5 suddenly all the drives would show amber light on them and then you have to blow up the whole array and then re- create the arrarys and restore from backup.I worked with IBM on this issue for one month and finally IBM decided to change all(around 800)DDYS drives in the data center.

Re: NetRaid problem.
For what I remenber the ldpro have a SE hot swapp cage, the disk you are adding is LVD, in that case you have to locate the jumper on the disk that let it configure as SR (check disk site for infos)
