NETSERVER E40 large SCSI hard drive?
the HP spec says:
One 1.44MB, 3.5-inch flexible disk drive; one 8x IDE CD-ROM drive; up to 16.8GB (4 x 4.2GB) maximum storage (two front-accessible shelves, two internal shelves)
this does not seem right, can't you put a drive larger than 4.2 gb on a scsi chain? i want to install a 9GB 50pin scsi drive as a second drive (D Drive). OS is NT4. if the internal scsi card cannot support it, what about a second card? those cards are supposed to support up to 9 devices.

Re: NETSERVER E40 large SCSI hard drive?
It is just that when HP did their compatibility testing and released the model, 4GB's was all there was.
SCSI has not size limitations, so yes the controller will support larger drives. The unit is probably set up as a Single Ended bus, as it was back then, so you can install any 68pin SCSI drive that has a jumper to force Single Ended mode, most of them still support SE mode and still have the jumper, but check first.
