Re: NetServer LH pro - Migrating to WIN2K

I assume you are planning to upgrade from NT Server 4.0 to Windows 2000 Server? Is that correct?

If there is a NetRAID card installed in this LH Pro, the older RAID cards (D4943A 3 channel UW and D4992A NetRAID-1) are not supported by HP with Windows 2000. Some customers have installed 2000 with these older controllers. The old HP Mylex controllers are also not supported.

2000 Server is supported on the LH Pro if the hard drives are connected to the integrated SCSI. There are no HP drivers for the LH Pro & 2000, HP supports the use of the drivers included on the MS 2000 CD.

The LH Pro has an integrated Trident 9000/9000i video controller. This is not on the Microsoft 2000 HCL, the result is a maximum of 16 colors with 2000. Since this is usually not acceptable, search the ITRC for user workarounds/solutions to this video issue.

There is no HP NOS upgrade document. I would suggest checking the MS Knowledgebase on the Microsoft web site. You might start with:

Q298107 HOW TO: Upgrade Windows NT Server Version 4.0 to Windows 2000 Server

But there are also many, many more documents related to the upgrade on the Microsoft site.

Hope this helps!
