Re: Netserver NT not booting

Hello Praveen,

The first thing I would recommend is to clear CMOS to clear any BIOS corruption that might be blocking communication from your peripherals. To clear the CMOS configuration:
a. Turn the server off and unplug it. Take the case off.
b. Locate the set of system switches on the motherboard.
c. Move Switch #5 CLEAR CONFIG or CLEAR CMOS to the opposite position, that is, from OFF to ON.
d. Power up the server. You will see a configuration error. The server will stop at this error.
e. Turn the server off, unplug it. Move Switch #5 back to the original position.
f. Power up the server. The BIOS program must be run to reconfigure the server. That usually means pressing F2, entering the BIOS setup and pressing F10 to save and exit. If you had made any changes in the BIOS previously, you will have to reenable those changes.

Hello Tony ,

This is fantastic you have just solved my problem. Is there any web sites which talks more about this problem or says this as a know issue or bug.

Thanks a lot

Re: Netserver NT not booting

Hello Praveen,

There are no web documents that I know of that details this fix. It's more of a generic troubleshooting step that applies when there are communication problems between the hardware and BIOS. For some reason, one of the first signs of a slightly corrupt BIOS is that the CD-ROM will no longer read disks although the CD-ROM will try to access the disk. If the corruption is a little worse, then there can be issues with the hard drives and floppy as well.

Please note that when I say corruption, all I mean is the settings that the BIOS uses; by clearing the current settings and letting CMOS redetect the hardware, the new settings allow for clear communication between hardware and BIOS.
