Not recognizing a hard disk in SCO OpenServer 5.0.2

I have an hp hard disk and I am trying to install SCO OpenServer 5.0.2, I use the slha
(Symbios driver) that comes in the Navigator
but when SCO recognizes the devices, shows the
following response:
hd controller not found,
and then it asks me to insert the BTLD for slha, I do this but always puts the message: no root hard disk encountered, the LUN, ID, and SCSI are set to 0, 0, 0.
I can see the hard disk in the boot, and I can use it with DOS fdisk.
What can be the problem?

Re: Not recognizing a hard disk in SCO OpenServer 5.0.2

Hi,

It has been a few years since i last saw SCO and it brings back a lot of bad memories..
1. Why 5.0.2 (5.0.5 is the latest i can remember)

2. What kink of controller do you have? is it a scsi, raid, ide etc?

If i am correct you need to emulate Western Didital scsi driver for IDE.

Check out the Hardware compatibilty handbook for your controller.

Re: Not recognizing a hard disk in SCO OpenServer 5.0.2

I installed successfully SCO OpenServer 5.0.2 in a HP NetServer LC 2000 last year, but now with LC 2000 U3, I can not.
The scsi card is an LSI Logic (former Symbios) 53-C1010-33 and I am using the controller that comes with the Navigator and does not work, I also tested the wd (OSS451B) from the SCO web site with no success.
The hard disk is Ultra 3 from hp.

I had already done that, but I did not work.

I guess I have to buy 5.0.5 or 5.0.6, haven??t I?

Re: Not recognizing a hard disk in SCO OpenServer 5.0.2

Hi,

I am not shure that that will be a sollution. Since those BTLD also apply for those versions. I found some U3 drivers (HBA) on the SCO site.

My advice will be contacting your SCO supplier and ask for the drivers.

Hi again,

Just to be clear, those U3 drivers only apply for Unixware7 not for OpenServer.

Re: Not recognizing a hard disk in SCO OpenServer 5.0.2

I have not asked SCO about the drivers, but I was visiting the Hardware Compatibility Page, and I found that the only version certified for the HP NetServer LC 2000 U3 is SCO OpenServer 5.0.6.
Besides the scsi card is not HP, but LSI Logic (former Symbios) and I used the last driver they provide, but I does not work any way.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Not recognizing a hard disk in SCO OpenServer 5.0.2

Swapping channels is the perfect solution.

Thank you very much.
