Reusing/new use for an old 5/166 LS server - pwr supply question

Hello ! new to this place, interesting reading. I recently acquired a 5/166 LD server box with all drives & ram stripped out of it. I wanted to get this thing going again but the more I think of it, the more its seems more trouble than its worth, especially since I want to run Win2000 server on it. So my idea is to re-use the cabinet and hefty power supply and install a modern motherboard in it (will require mechanical alterations to the box). I have identified the power supply leads I need and can get a standard Molex dual row plug fitted to the wires so it will connect to the newer mother boards. My problem is the following: I need to identify which wires will **turn on** the power supply. Is this feasible or is the power supply turned on "electronically" from a signal from the CPU or BIOS or other source when the low-voltage pushbuton switch activated ? I would also like to re-use the Netraid D4943-600002 card on the newer mothr board but am new to this stuff... is the card still a good performer with SCSI drives or is it only useable in an HP LS server system ?

I have looked on the net for specs about the pwr supply (made by Astec) but no data is available.

If this post is inappropriate for this forum, please delete it and e-mail me if you have an answer ! thanks.

Well, I don't know about the power supply for NetServer LS but i can tell you a little something about the NetRAID controller you have (D4943A).

That's the original HP NetRAID card. There are drivers available for it for Windows NT and Novell NetWare 4.x, but it is not supported with Windows 2000. So, you won't be able to get Win2K drivers for it.

Here's the download page for the NetRAID card:

Also check out HP's home page for the NetServer LS, from this page you might be able to find more information about the power supply:

Good luck.
