Steps to replace HD in HP Netserver RS/8
Have a HD in a netserver rack storage/8 that is part of RAID 5. There are a total of 6 drives as 1. One of the HD's is beeping, and the staus light is red. So we shut down the server, and swapped the HD. We then started up the server again, but the light for the new HD is still red and beeping. What do I have to do to get this up and running?
The server is Novell 4.11
Thanx alot!
Pete

Re: Steps to replace HD in HP Netserver RS/8
Peter,
Since you downed the server to replace the hdd instant rebuild did not kick off. You can try to pull the hdd and reinsert it while the server is still up which should kick off an automated rebuild. Otherwise reboot to Ctrl-M and launch a manual rebuild. There is NetRaid assistant available to do this from the NOS.. but it is for NW4.2. http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix62471.html
Ciao, Greg

Re: Steps to replace HD in HP Netserver RS/8
Hi,
it seems that your Netraid Controller is not set to autorebuild. Please reboot server,
press Ctrl-M and launch Netraid Express Tool.
Choose in main screen ->Objects->Physical Drive
Then press Enter on this drive that is in status fail, choose rebuild drive.
After that make consistency check on logical drive. Objects->Logical Drive->Check Consistency.
