What does 'ready' mean in Netraid Tools

We have an LH4 R with 5 disks in a raid 5 partition. when we fire up the GUI version of the netraid tools it tells us we have 1 failed drive ( Red ) 3 Online drives ( green) and one ready drive ( green )

what the **** does ready mean. Surely if it is not online the machine should be blue screening. I thought with Raid 5 if more than one drive failed you were finished?

Peter,

We need more information to really help you.. Please list all of your drives-the id, array number and status ie.
ch 0
id 0 a0-0 online
id 1 ready
id 2 a0-2 failed
ect..

If you have a ready drive you most likely had a hot spare configured. When you have a hot spare and you lose a drive the hotspare will initiate a rebuild and when the rebuild is done the failed drive will change state to ready. If you still have a failed hdd and a ready hdd you should also check every hdd for any errors reporting or a drive not responding.

Are you able to boot to your nos as well?

Thanks for your help- it appears that it was a hot spare but not configured as a global hot spare.

I just swapped it with the failed drive and rebuilt, everything is fine.
