what is the max No. of drives the LH 6000 onboard NetRaid supports?
Hi Everyone,
We have a dual processor LH 6000 with the second drive cage installed. We'd like to use the three non-hot-swapable drive bays to put additional drives on the onboard raid controller.
Does anyone know the max number of drives the controller can handle?
Many thanks,
Marty

Re: what is the max No. of drives the LH 6000 onboard NetRaid supports?
Marty,
if i understand this configuration correctly, you already have 6 disks in each drive cage filled up and connected to the on board Netraid controller channel A and B.
It is not supported to add additional disks beyond those 6 internal hotswap disks on the Netraid controller, you'll run into problems doing so.
The only solution for more then 6 disks on one channel is to use the external RS12 JBOD which offers you 12 disks on one channel, maybe you can find some second hand for sale somewhere on the internet.
So to answer your question, the max number of disks supported is 12, their is no larger HP enclosure supported for the Netraid controller. You'll have to bring the internal Netraid channel to the back of the server chassis to connect the external RS12 enclosure with a SCSI cable that HP provided for that, i think their was always one such cable with mounting bracket included with each server by default.
