Solution
There is an 'upgrade page' at:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/nas/upgradekits.html
I beleive some kits contain hardware.

Re: How to upgrade NAS 1000 storage works 2000 to 2003 ?
Hi,
The previously mentioned website has all the details but I can clarify someof the quetions. There is no hardware involved with the upgrade process, only software. The upgrade is free for customers who bought/received version 2 (running SAK 2.0) NAS devices on or after Sept. 10th 2003. The program is still running but is planned to discontinue at the end of July so make your move! The upgrade kit comes with a replacement QR-DVD and a complete set of instructions for theupgrade process and backing up/migrating data from the old device/s.
Cheers,
john
