Hy, I've just recieved a nas 1000s and an hard disk drive to install inside.
Is it possible to instrall the hard disk before configuring the systeme? Or i must install the 1000s and after install the disk inside?

Re: NAS 1000s New user
Are you sure this is a 1000S and not a 1200S? Are you talking about the Windows-based NAS, or some other NAS?
In the Windows-based NAS, the 1000S and 1200S come with all four drive slots populated. There are no empty bays for you to install a drive. (Unless someone has modified the factory configuration -- which is not a supported configuration.)
In addition, the 1000S is sealed and is not considered user-serviceable. There is no easy way to take it apart and remove (or add) drives. I believe you void your warranty if you open up the 1000S.
The 1200S has hot-pluggable drive bays. You can pull the drive out in its carrier and replace it, etc.
But again, both come from the factory with all four drive bays populated. There are no slots left for you to add a drive into.

Re: NAS 1000s New user
Thank you for your answer.
I'm sure that it's a 1000s (i opened the package myselfe yesturday) I'll carfully look at all this before doing something wrong. maybe the HP drive is not for the 1000s, we recieved it at the same time but in an other package so i'll verify this.
