We have a remote location that we want to connect to our server. We have a DTC16TN that is on the network. Connected to the DTC we have an MDP connected (to which we have some terminals attached). These terminals are connecting to the server without any problem.
The problem is when I m trying to connect a modem to the MDP. I cannot understand how the device files are assigned to the peripherals connected on the MDP and so I don't know which device file I m going to put down in the inittab file (so that I can start the getty process).
Can you please help?
Thanks

Re: Connecting a modem to a DTC
Both links that you have provided are for connecting modems physically to the server. However I want to connect the modem to the MDP that is sitting on the DTC.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Connecting a modem to a DTC
Thanks for that documentation. I have managed to solve my problem (device file) with it.
However I am having a new problem. The problem is that the TR on the modem is switcging on and off randomly. Can you please advise what could be the problem with this?
Thanks

Re: Connecting a modem to a DTC
TR=Terminal Ready
The flashing indicates a connection problem between the unit and the modem. As I said, I am not familiar with this hardware, so I can't offer specific suggestions. However, it's always a good idea to check for loose cables and cards. Are you sure there's no pattern to the light going on/off? What other modem lights (CS?) are on?

Re: Connecting a modem to a DTC
I have checked all the cables and all seems ok. I have CD and AA switched on as well. I have solved the TR problem by changing the AT settings and overriding TR.
This has solved when I try to call one modem over a normal line but when I try to connect over a leased line it is still giving me problems. Do you have any idea why this is so?
Thanks
