Deeper dive into HPE Aruba Networking’s SSE
While the Secure Service Edge (SSE) market boasts a diverse landscape, each vendor tends to favor a specific technology area. This might be Secure Web Gateway (SWG) for those with an established presence in that technology, or Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) for companies who chose to start by targeting that specific market.
However, our approach was very different from this, venturing down a distinctive path built on the cornerstone principle of Zero Trust.
We firmly believe that the future of security lies in embracing a Zero Trust strategy. Our platform embodies this philosophy by implementing a granular access model. This grants users only the essential resources required to complete their tasks, with continuous monitoring of their behavior. Any deviations trigger an immediate evaluation, leading to adjustments in access privileges as needed.
This commitment to Zero Trust is embedded in the platform's very foundation. It was born to address the unique access challenges faced by third-party and contractor use cases where deploying traditional agents was not feasible. We then innovated further by incorporating an agent to facilitate complete VPN replacement. Crucially, all subsequent SSE core features are seamlessly integrated into the platform, leveraging the same codebase, data lake, and user interface. This unified approach fosters simplicity and consistency, a cornerstone of our philosophy and critical to good security design.
Our vision champions unwavering security and accessibility for any application, irrespective of its location (be it cloud based, on premises, or within a private data center). Additionally, users, applications, and data can reside anywhere, as long as the necessary security measures are in place. These measures include multi-factor authentication (MFA) and rigorous device posture checks, regardless of the environment.
We believe our approach offers an elegant solution for your internal workforce and those often challenging-to-secure third-party and contractor resources. Instead of grappling with disparate solutions and siloed data, our platform provides a unified and streamlined experience.
Core differentiators:
- Built on Zero Trust: Our platform prioritizes Zero Trust principles, with all other SSE features seamlessly added as extensions. This approach ensures a robust security foundation, further enhanced by a unified codebase, data lake, and user interface.
- Comprehensive SSE features: We offer a comprehensive suite of features within a single, cohesive solution, encompassing the core elements of SSE:
- Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA): Enables granular access control for all resources, accessible by any user from any device.
- Secure Web Gateway (SWG): Shields employees from online threats and malicious actors.
- Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB): Secures access to various SaaS applications like Salesforce and O365.
- Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM): Provides IT and security teams with crucial visibility into user activity outside the traditional network perimeter.
By prioritizing simplicity and embracing the Zero Trust philosophy, our platform empowers organizations to navigate the ever-evolving security landscape with confidence and agility.
