Future-proof campus environments with end-to-end security and scalability
Written by Priyaa Arumugam, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, HPE
In this current era of network security challenges and continuous digital transformation, organizations are looking to adopt solutions that are simple and scalable with streamlined operations that supports security and management features, such as encryption, authentication, firewalls, and network monitoring. To stay ahead of the current trends to ensure a competitive edge, businesses need a tighter integration of their switch hardware and software to maximize network availability and performance.
This unified approach helps organizations to cut operational costs, improve visibility, automate, and secure their network fabrics/landscape. With the HPE Aruba Networking CX 9300S-32C8D switch, users can extend encryption to cover IPSec and VXLANsec in addition to existing MACSEC capabilities. These encryption capabilities are embedded to deliver end-to-end security and eliminate the need for multiple security services to support encryption.
HPE Aruba Networking CX switches have been designed to help IT become efficient and effective by eliminating fragmented silos, manual tasks and reducing the risk around IoT and user connectivity.
- Unified and automated operations to simplify config workflows.
- Faster troubleshooting with HPE Aruba Networking Network Analytics Engine for rapid monitoring and complete visibility.
- Always-on high availability with HPE Aruba Networking VSX that ensures campus and data center (DC) networks remain up and running during network upgrades.
- Improved segmentation with HPE Aruba Networking Dynamic Segmentation to automatically enforce consistent policies across wired and wireless networks, keeping traffic for any user or device separate and secure, regardless of the application or service.
Data center networking that scales for campus
HPE Aruba Networking’s ethernet-enabled switches are an open, next-generation lossless data center fabric that supports high-performance, low-latency, and reliable data transmission for applications such as storage, big data, and artificial intelligence, offering:
- Consistent: Operational experience from access to core/aggregation to data center with HPE Aruba Networking CX serving as the same operating system
- Simple: Collapse access/aggregation or aggregation/core onto a single platform
- Efficient: Simplified management, more automation, fewer errors, better productivity
- Future-ready: Automation w/instrumentation for policy, self-healing, AIOps
- Investment protected: Ready for growth with hardware that scales from 1G high-POE to 400G
Together with the HPE Aruba Networking CX 8400, 8360, 8325, and 10000 switches, the CX 9300 Switch Series can be a key component in a security-first, AI-powered networking switch portfolio. It can be used in a large campus core (100/400G) or collapsed campus core and aggregation environment. The core and aggregation roles have many similarities as well as some key differences. The large campus architecture is targeted for organizations supporting more than 15,000 users with multiple devices per user. The network would typically be a group of large buildings located near one another. This architecture uses standalone, layer 3 core and services aggregation switches connecting to gateways and WAN services.
Based on port and scale demands, the HPE Aruba Networking CX 9300 series fits well into a variety of locations in dedicated data centers, campus attached data centers, and in campus Layer 3 core and aggregation:
The 9300S-32C8D serves as spine/end-of-row switches offering 10/25/40/100/400GbE (QSFP28/QSFP-DD) downlink interfaces, as well as leaf/top-of-rack switches supporting 10/25/40/100/400GbE (SFP28/QSFP28/QSFP-DD) connections for server access.

- The 9300S-32C8D in campus deployments is deployable as the Layer 3 core and the Layer 3-aggregation switch wherever MACSEC deployments are required. The 9300S-32C8D can be deployed in the L3-Core for 100G MACSEC deployments while as a Layer 3-aggregation switch, the 9300S-32C8D provides 25G connectivity to the access (using 4x25G splitters) and 100G towards the core.; as 9300S-32C8D comes with 100G/400G ports.
