- HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect Microbranch is ideally suited for small office or work-from-home sites. It uses a range of HPE Aruba Networking remote access points (RAPs) paired with SD-WAN capabilities enabling secure connectivity to the corporate enterprise network.
Performance optimization
Performance is a critical factor in modern networking, and HPE stands out with its powerful performance optimization capabilities. AppExpress ensures that mission-critical applications receive prioritized bandwidth by automatically selecting the best path for each application and leveraging synthetic polling and real-time user traffic observations. Additionally, Path Conditioning enhances network reliability of internet links by correcting packet loss, while tunnel bonding aggregates multiple network links to maximize throughput and create redundant paths. Combined with WAN optimization, these features offer superior network performance, reduced latency, and an excellent user experience, even in challenging environments.
Cloud-native architecture
As more businesses embrace cloud technologies, EdgeConnect SD-WAN eliminates backhauling cloud-destined traffic to the data center, significantly improving application performance and operations. By identifying applications on the first packet, cloud-destined traffic is directly sent from the branch to the cloud or to an SSE solution (depending on security policy) without requiring it to be sent to the data center. To do so, EdgeConnect SD-WAN can identify more than 10,000 applications and more than 300 million web domains on the first packet.
Additionally, our SD-WAN solution seamlessly integrates with leading cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as other network connectivity providers such as Equinix and Megaport for a complete multi-cloud networking solution. This allows organizations to quickly build a cloud on-ramp and automate network deployments, removing the manual complexity of connecting branch offices to the cloud. If a brownout or blackout occurs, the remaining link(s) continue to carry traffic so that users don’t notice any disruption to voice calls, audio and video conferences, or any other applications. Ruggedized first mile between the branch and the public cloud delivers better network performance, reliability, and quality.
Best-in-class security for zero trust networking
EdgeConnect SD-WAN incorporates next-generation firewall capabilities, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) defense, and role-based segmentation to ensure comprehensive security across the network. The integration with HPE Aruba Networking ClearPass provides detailed information about user role and device type, enforcing zero trust networking based on least privilege access principles. With this additional context, IoT devices and users can only access resources relevant to their roles, isolating vulnerable IoT traffic from critical business applications.
This robust security stack is further augmented by our Secure Web Gateway (SWG), which protects all devices, including unmanaged devices like IoT and guest users, against web-based threats. With this layered security approach, EdgeConnect SD-WAN provides end-to-end protection for both managed and unmanaged network assets, reducing vulnerabilities while maintaining high performance.
Single vendor SASE or multi-vendor SASE: you decide
With EdgeConnect SD-WAN and SWG, organizations can easily expand to a single-vendor solution by adding ZTNA (Zero Trust Networking Access) and CASB (Cloud Access Security Broker) features from HPE Aruba Networking SSE. HPE Aruba Networking SSE is a cloud-native platform that integrates in a single interface multiple SSE functions, managed by a single policy engine, simplifying operations, and enhancing security posture. Moreover, a key differentiator of our SD-WAN solution is its ability to integrate not only with HPE Aruba Networking SSE but also with a broad range of third-party SSE vendors. This flexibility allows organizations to choose the security services that best fit their existing infrastructure and security requirements, while still benefiting from our best-in-class SD-WAN capabilities.
