Looking for end to end loop back network performance utility

Hi,

I am looking for tool (rather than writing one myself) which times a transfer and return from a workstation to another.

I have written such a beast on a UNISYS mainframe one time ago and was hoping not to have to do the process again.

I have a customer who is getting application lockups occasionally and wish to remove the network/workstation from the myriad of variables that currently exist.

Ideal the utility can run continuously or say every few minutes to transfer data and have it mirrored back and the response time taken. This will then hopefully correlate or not to the application freezing.

Any ideas on what is available in the open source.

Rob.

might be cheesy but use Ping for response time and then "timethis" from Resource Kit for any other measurement you want. (ie, you can copy a file across the network and use timethis to see how long it took to copy)

Get Timethis here:
