10.2 in L1000
I am planning to buy a L1000 server, But my existing server is E45 with HPUX10.2 and oracle ver 6. Can I migrate this to L1000. I mean that, whether 10.2 can be loaded in L1000 or not? If yes whether oracle 6 will work in that or not? Waiting for ur reply
Thanks in advance

Re: 10.2 in L1000
As for the Oracle version, I would believe that version is not even supported by Oracle by now, but you woul dbe advised to ask Oracle directly.

Re: 10.2 in L1000
Melvyn is correct, you cannot run 10.20 or 11.0/32bit on an L or N class.
However, we ported some old Oracle 32 bit databases (10.20 or 11/32bit) to an L class running 11.0/64bit and because theyre binary compaitble oracle runs fine, so if you cant upgrade Oracle you can still move it to an L class if you must.

Re: 10.2 in L1000
L1000 doesn't support 32bits, only 64bits OS
can works on this server. But you can install
32bits applications (Oracle for example).
You can consult the file I attach (you can find
it on HPUX11.X systems in /etc/.supported_bits)
it give you informations for bits compatibility

Re: 10.2 in L1000
As others have already mentioned, the L class can only run HPUX 11/64 bits, but it should be able to run just about any 32-bit apps. So you should be okay.

Re: 10.2 in L1000
Since you migrate from one server to another, you can easily install, configure and test the l1000 (you need to do this anyway) while the old server is still operational. Once you are sure that all data is succesfully migrated, and all applications still work, you can smoothly move to a new and upgraded environment. You're safe for years again, much better than all the effort to migrate oracle 6 to the L1000 and having to upgrade it later.

Re: 10.2 in L1000
u can't move both 10.2 and oracle in to L-1000 since L-1000 wouldn't support 10.2 and 11.0 supports only oracle 8i and above
