10.2 to 11.0; 7.3.4 - 8.06; 32bit - 64 bit upgrade

I am looking for any information that will help me plan for our major undertaking. Here is what we are planning.

Current Setup:
T520 10.2 2GB 10CPU (120Mhz)32bit
Oracle 7.3.4 32bit
SAP 3.1I 32 bit

Going to:
N4000 11.0 8GB 2CPU (550Mhz)64bit
Oracle 8.0.6 64 bit
SAP 3.1I 64bit.

We currently have an EMC 8730 Disk Array as that will remain.

As you can tell this is going to be a fun project. Any information that you could provide (i.e. other forum conversations, planning docs, whitepapers, etc) would be great. I have been looking and have found some good information, but thought I would throw this out here to see if anyone has done this or heard of someone doing this type of change.

thank you,
Brent

My colleagues warned us about the fact that Oracle 8.0.6 64-bit has a bug (# 1499352) with the backup/recovery. You may want to check the SAP & Oracle archives for more details.
We have SAP and were driven to upgrade Oracle to 8.1.6 to avoid this issue. Recovability is very important to us.

Just one more fact for you to consider/investigate. Hope this helps

Hi there.
Install new Oracle version including SAP on the N-class.
Do a backup of your old system anyway.
Export the contents of the old database under version 7.n .

!!! Get the Install and Upgrade guide for your stuff bvecause of necessary patches and so on before you start !!!!!

Install necessary HP patches before you do something else.

Prepare creation scripts for the new database including the preparation for the new SAP on your new machine.
Transfer the exports to your new machine.
Create the new database with the scripts.
While you are running the import on the new system, keep an eye on invalid objects.
We have seen, that while import running we have to recompile the views in the database
every minute otherwise import might hang.
Then go for a test.
Hope i could help with some ideas.
