10.20 install problem on 720

hi,

I've been given a 9000/720 to basically set up as a clone of another machine. The two machines cannot be put on the network and cannot be put in the same location.

I used the series 700 install and core os cd to install 10.20 on the clone. This worked fine. I then loaded an fbackup of the 2nd machine onto the clone. This stopped part way through with a message that the root('/') partition was full. I tried looking around but the system panicked. On a reboot, it said to fsck the disk. Since / was full, i figured i'd just reload the os and specify a larger root partition. This is where the problem comes in. When i try to install 10.20 off the cd, i now end up with the ISL prompt or a screen giving me four options. Where i end up may be dependent on my partitions but i may be fooling myself here. One of the options is to enter a shell. When i do so, i cannot locate vmunix. Guess this is why 'hpux -is' doesn't work from the ISL prompt.

How do i get back to having 10.20 on the clone? Any help is appreciated as i'm a recent draftee to sysad!

Two asides that i'm not sure will help:
1) the first screen while booting of the cd displays a message about 'Equivalently mapped reserved pool exhausted' and increasing the eqmemsize (currently set to 15); This flashes by and i can't get an exact message. I'm not sure if this appeared on the original 10.20 install.

2) the fbackup tape from the machine to be cloned excludes /stand, /dev, /etc/fstab, /etc/lvmtab, /etc/lvmconf, /etc/ioconfig

thanks!

Hi,

If the two workstations are identical, you could use Ignite-UX to build the second workstation from the first. Create a make_recovery tape from the first workstation and then on the duplicate workstation boot from the make_recovery.

You can find the Ignite-UX bundle on HP's Website at the following address,
