1000Base T Lan card

We are going to upgrade our network and HP server lan card to 1000Base T.
HP said that it is not possible to use web console on 1000Base T. Is it
correct? Is there any alternate for this?

Re: 1000Base T Lan card

To my knowledge the Web Console is 10BaseT only.
Why not connect it into a port on your hub/switch that will be set up for 10BaseT?

Keep you 10Mb card connected as well as the 100Mb, move your primary IP to the 100Mb card but assign a new IP for the 10Mb and then you can still use it for your web console. Thats what we do on our servers.

Re: 1000Base T Lan card

If i am not wrong L & N class servers already have a serial port to connect webconsoles however on others it is not, you need to have your switch/hub set to 10MB or autoswitch set on. HP is right, WebConsole do require 10MB

The RJ-45 connector on the back of the Web Console should say "10Base-T". It is 10BaseT only.

Re: 1000Base T Lan card

Thanks for your immediate reply. We have planned to keep one 10/100 Base
Hub for all the web consoles.

Once again thanks for the replies.
