11.0 vs 11.i

hi all,
I have a few servers I need to take to 11.x from 10.2. I've done a few 11.0 and it was pretty easy, has anyone done 11i, if so do you recommend over 11.0?

Thanx
MIke

Re: 11.0 vs 11.i

Hi Mike:

I assume that when you said take from 10.20 to 11.0, you meant a cold install. That will work just fine but check the firmware level against the 11.11 support matrix. I have run 11.11 (11i) for about 8 months on several servers and there have been very few problems. I am currently upgrading almost every boix to 11.11. Thewre were a few problems with the initial release but if you install the current quality pack you will have no more problems than you would have with 11.0. If it were me, I'd go for it. I've yet to find any (other than kernel intrusive stuff like lsof) that ran on 10.20 or 11.0 that will not run on 11.11.

Regards, Clay

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: 11.0 vs 11.i

I'd personally go with 11i in 64bit mode (where possible), because the support for issues will be better. I've been running it for a little more than a year, and it has worked flawlessly (other than when I kill it).

Re: 11.0 vs 11.i

I should have added that you should use the latest install media from dec 2001 !! Then after the install of your other software, go to the custom patch manager and determine if there are any other patches that might be necessary.
