Since most of us are working in Unix, we can not read your .doc file.

Attach in plain text.

Hi,

License will be different for 10.20 and 11x system. you need to buy seperate licenses both for 10.2 as well 11x.

(eg: micro focus cobol will be different for 10.2 and 11.0)
never give up

Re: 11.00 system using a 10.20 license manager

I was able to read it too, but please use plain text attachments in the future. This is the HP-UX forums, and most of us dont have access to read doc files. Luckily I had a Sun available with star office on it so could read, but normally that is not the case.

On to your issues.

This will not work. Lets look at some basic network software licensing features and facts.

1. Network licensing requires a specific port.
2. License keys are generated for a host ID. Part of the encryption for the license is:
Version of OS and OS type, as well as quantity of licenses, host ID, datestamps (start stop), and more.

The above is true with FlexLM, NetLS, IforLS, and LUM.

If you change any of the information on the license server that the key was generated for, the key fails and the license will not register.

The "hook" as you call it is only valid for clients accessing licenses. This again only works with FlexLM, and not IforLS, NetLS, or Lum.

If an application uses FlexLM, part of the client request system reads the environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE by default.

LM_LICENSE_FILE has nothing to do with server processes or startup.

As mentioned, you will have to get a new license from the vendor of your software.
