11.11 and Oracle 8.1.7.3
On a new rp2470 running HPUX-11.11 patch bundle March 2002 running Oracle 8.1.7.3 with
1 Gb of RAM and 2 Gb of swap
Server installed with Java 2 RTE 1.3
Oracle product seems to be using RTE 1.1.8
Server also patched with patch PHSS_26263
When server is started and instances are up, "swapinfo -t" reports
memory free 570Mb.
So far so good.
Each time DBAs start then exit from "Oracle universal installer",
memory free decreases to 100Mb then memory is never released.
Then server swaps whenever other applications start.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: 11.11 and Oracle 8.1.7.3
Hi,
Looks like a possible memory leak. Monitor your top, ps or glance output, do you see memory get consumed over time for specific process(es)?
Alternatively, get sarcheck which eases the effort to pinpoint the leaks.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: 11.11 and Oracle 8.1.7.3
Sort the processes by amount of RAM using:
UNIX95= ps -eo vsz,ruser,pid,args | sort -rn | more
Now you'll see which processes are growing in size.
