thanks much;

Re: 11.23 Sept 2006
Ikeleong,
Sept 2006 version defaults to 4.1, before that jfs 3.5 or 4.1 was a selectable option.
I am not sure if it's possible to go back.
I know that this command is used to convert forward:
vxfsconvert ( for more info take a look at the man man )
But I am not that sure is going to work backwards.
You might want to read carefully on the manpage.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: 11.23 Sept 2006
Hello ikeleong,
As in all JFS versions till date, you can only upgrade the vxfs versions with vxupgrade(1M).
If you need a file system with version 3.5, then you will need to explicity specify it at the time of running mkfs_vxfs(1M) command.
If you are using SAM to create the file systems, then it will default to version 4.1 version and you might want to exercise caution with the tool.
HTH,
Sanjay
