I have an 11.0 MCSG cluster with 2 N4000 nodes and want to upgrade one of the
nodes to 11i - Are there any known issues for a cluster that has multiple
nodes using different O/S's (11.0 & 11.i), ie, can the pkgs be failed back and
forth?. Eventually my cluster will be all 11i, but for production reasons this
will be a multi-staged effort.

Solution
Hi Maggie:
What you are doing is called a 'Rolling Upgrade' and it covered well in your 'Managing MC/ServiceGuard' manual. This is a very common practice is the SG world. My one piece of advice is that you carefully review the procedure and be prepared to do everything including upgrading the second node as soon as possible after you upgrade the first.
The only time I have had problems doing this was on a D-box cluster from 10.20 to 11.0. The lan device names changed from something like 'btlan1' to 'lan2' because of a major change in the networking software. You won't have this problem in the N-box upgrade plus the 11.0 to 11.11 upgrade actually worls whereas the 10.20 to 11.0 very seldom worked whether or not MC/SG was part of the picture.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: 11i MCSG upgrade
HP do now support a cluster where one node may be 11.0, and the other is 11i. The proviso is that the SG version is the same on both nodes.
Hence you could have both nodes runing SG 11.09 or 11.13, but one on HP-UX 11.00 and the other on HP-UX 11i. This is now supported as a "fixed" config, i.e. not necessarily a rolling upgrade.
