2 servers seeing same raw devices
My company's capacity requirements have recently changed, and we want to
investigate using Oracle Parallel Server. In order to do that we must use raw
devices and both UNIX servers must see and be able to access the devices.
What's the best way to go about this? The volumes can not be NFS mounted, so
how can it be set up so that 2 servers can access the same volumes. We are
using EMC disk arrays as our current mass storage device. Do we have to go to a
cluster, or can we just set up the EMC so that the devices are visible on more
than one SCSI controller? Is there any documentation covering anything like
this.
Sorry for all the questions, but this is an unfamiliar area for me.

Re: 2 servers seeing same raw devices
Mark, I don't know
but
I think that you are in too deep
we use Oracle but have avoided Parallel Server because it looks too complicated
raw device files are only an advantage if you are bound on disk io
if you need Parallel Server you need to hire an expert

Re: 2 servers seeing same raw devices
The short answer is yes if you are using an EMC disk array you can enable to
servers to see the same device. You have to contact an EMC engineer as they
have to do some work on the LUN's to be able to make it available to both
servers at once.
