4 IPs with 3 NICs - specify an IP for app to use... Veritas BU
We have 4 IP bound to 3 NIC cards all multihomed. I have a problem with using the veritas backup software.
Everything works fine when the veritas server "gets" the backup. But, when I try to "put" a file on the server, it says it was successful, but the tape is not mounted and a 3 GB file is complete in a second.
Also, when I tried to do a recovery, I get an error...
Querying server...
client is not validated to use the server
Press any key to continue
I was told it may be because the veritas server has 1 IP associated with our host name. I was asked if I could try to specify that the Veritas backup (bp) use a specific nic.
How would I do this, and can it be done.

Specify a single ip address with each server in /etc/hosts
Veritas ignores DNS except for host name resolution. It uses /etc/hosts to decide what to back up.
