5100C/Windows XP/HPcopier.exe

I have all three and before XP all worked well. Since adding XP scanner works but the HPcopier.exe (utility program) gives me a communication error and will not boot up. I do no know where the program came from but it does contain the HP logo so hence I believe it originated with HP.
