700/RX Terminal password?

Hi,

I just purchased an old 700/RX X-terminal, but found that in order to enter the configuration I need to know the password. Neither I nor the seller has any idea what it is. Does anyone know of a way to reset the password to a null or default value, or am I pretty much stuck?

Thanks

Re: 700/RX Terminal password?

Hold the f12 key down for about 10 seconds.

Re: 700/RX Terminal password?

Hmm... the f12 key seems to switch between the boot and configuration screens, so when I try holding it down for 10 seconds it just flips back and forth between these two screens. I've also tried holding it down while booting, but to no avail. Is there some trick to it?

Re: 700/RX Terminal password?

There's a back door into them : use "secret" as the password,

If that doesn't work factory default the box by holding down after the 2 beeps & once it's powered up, keep it depressed for some time !

Also be aware the xterminal will need access to a server that has the older enware s/w installed on it. use xtadm to configure and then add networking details etc to the defaulted box via the config screen : or interrupt the boot process to get to it.

save the newly added details and reboot the xterminal !

Re: 700/RX Terminal password?

PS as you may have gathered is working correctly it only allows access to the config screen which as you know is passwd protected !
