I've two systems:
an n4000 with HP-UX xxx B.11.00 U (9000/800 ... unlimited-user license)
and a K380 with HP-UX xxx B.11.00 A (9000/800 ... two-user license)
They ask me to update the second server to the first. Does anybody know what is the difference between the "A" and the "U" version of the B.11.00 release?
Thanks in advance.
Francesca.

SolutionHPUX used to come shipped with a two user licence. Thus you could only have two concurrent logins via a mux (or REAL terminal).
This is not a restriction on telnet.
However, some years ago the unlimited user licence was made free, you can download it from http://www.software.hp.com and I think it's also on the support plus CD. These days makes very little difference unless you're using a MUX.

Re: A and U versions of the B.11.00 release
The A indicates a 2 user licence, and U is Unlimited user licence (as showin in your initial posting).
I believe that is the only difference.

Re: A and U versions of the B.11.00 release
'A' means it is a two-user system while 'U' indicates an unlimited-user system.
Here's the list for your reference:
A Two-user system
B 16-user system
C 32-user system
D 64-user system
E 8-user system
U 128-user, 256-user, or unlimited-user system
Hope this helps.
