abnormal findings - restricted SAM access

Hi,

I just found that a user can run restricted sam. But when I looked into it within the SAM, he is disabled for that source. Furthermore, I checked the files under /etc/sam/custom, no users can be found.

I just got the box which I have no idea about its history...

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it?

Thanks....Crystal

Re: abnormal findings - restricted SAM access

Crystal,

One of your first steps for an inherited box should be making sure it's up todate with patches. Use the "custom patch manager", it's quite easy to use and it will bundle any patches you choose into a single install.

Re: abnormal findings - restricted SAM access

You can run SAM with the -f param & it'll verify whether the restricted assignment is operational.
May need to "rebuild" the assignment - use the -r param starting SAM to do so.

Re: abnormal findings - restricted SAM access

Hi,

Just now I granted a group in which I belong to access to "Account for Users and Groups". However, after that I logged on to the machine with my own id and tried to run /usr/sbin/sam, I got prompted to have root password.

I did find the group with "yes" under the item of "Has sam privilege". What do you think I am wrong or miss?

Thanks
